GRAPHOMOTORIC TABLES FOR OLDER CHILDREN

How it works. By running a finger, stylus or brush over the shapes engraved on the boards, the child exercises precision and prepares the hand for writing. Why? Because before a child can write his first letters, he needs to develop his fine motor skills and learn how to use his hand and fingers. This is what playing with the board is all about. Each of the six animals on the board teaches the child a different pattern and, incidentally, helps to train the child in calligraphy. Thanks to the forest friends, preparation for learning to write becomes a beautiful adventure – a game of imagination and discovery of the world with all the senses (thus multisensory).

Natural aromatic materials (cloves, cinnamon, aniseed) can be used for this playful activity, which will also stimulate other senses – equipped with a paintbrush, the toddler will feel like an archaeologist discovering ancient hieroglyphs.
If, in addition, you include a piece of inspirational music (e.g. oriental and a touch of fairytale), all the senses will be involved in learning to write. This is the essence of multisensory teaching, pioneered by Maria Montessori. However, this is not the end of the possibilities offered by the graphomotoric boards. The board is a mould that can be filled with colourful homemade dough (we can use one that smells extra) – the toddler will for a moment become a sculptor, a printer, an artist.

These exercises are an excellent opportunity to hone many valuable skills. Firstly, the young writing student learns how to use a crayon or pencil correctly. Secondly, the exercises are a great opportunity to correct the way a toddler holds what he is writing with. Thirdly, it is a good idea to use this opportunity to get your child used to the correct handwriting direction from left to right.

Each set contains boards of varying difficulty levels. You will find a board with an easy pattern as well as one that requires more skill. This allows for adjusting the difficulty level.

This product is designed for children from approximately 3 years old to approximately 7 years old.
